ELL

As children continue to enroll in St. Anthony School, the number of students whose native language is not English continues to grow. As the primary spoken language in a country with a rich history of immigration and cultural diversity, English and its mastery are an important part of educational development. ELL is offered to students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. Students will study the English language in a small group setting with the close supervision of our ELL teacher.

I attended grade school at St. Paul’s in Sellersburg. I went to Silver Creek for junior high and high school. I then attended I.U.S. for my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in education with an emphasis on early childhood development. I took additional course work from Indiana Wesleyan for my +30. I taught in West Clark School System for 11 years. Once my children were born, I decided to stay home with them and be a full-time mom.

Once my children started attending St. Anthony, I subbed when needed. As they got older, I covered a few maternity leaves. When an opportunity to teach 7th and 8th grade history and geography here at St. Anthony came up, I accepted the position. I did this for a few years, but when the ELL position became available two years later, I jumped at the opportunity to take over that role.

I have been married to my husband David, for over 27 years. We have 2 children, Nicholas and Jacqueline. I enjoy cycling, Zumba, reading, and running. I love to cook and be creative in the kitchen, but don’t like cleaning up the messes I make. I love teaching at St. Anthony School because the staff and students are wonderful. We have a great family atmosphere here at our school!
