St. Anthony Preschool develops the whole child emotionally, socially, physically, spiritually, and intellectually for elementary school. Parents are the primary teachers of their children. At St. Anthony Preschool, teachers work in collaboration with parents to help guide children to thrive and grow. Our goal is that each child has a solid foundation of academic and social skills to ensure a successful transition into kindergarten.
St. Anthony Preschool follows an age appropriate curriculum. The three year old class focuses on color, shape, number, and letter recognition. They also work on pre-writing skills, scissors/cutting skills, and pencil/crayon grip and use. There is an emphasis placed on social skills, self-help skills, hand-eye coordination, and language development.
St. Anthony four year old class focuses on several different skills. Their faith is nurtured every day through bible stories and learning about Jesus, Creation, prayers, and how to love and respect one another. Children are engaged daily in activities to support phonemic awareness, letter and sound recognition, sight words, sequencing, and exposure to literature. Traditional techniques are used to help build a firm foundation of math skills. The four year old class will focus on classifying and sorting numbers, numeral sequence, shapes, patterns, and numeral printing. The children will also demonstrate improvement in small and large motor development through handwriting, scissor/cutting skills, pencil/crayon grip and use, and movement with music and song. Students will enjoy simple games and structured play to develop their gross motor skills, listening and following directions, and identifying body parts. In addition to all of this, they will participate in several special activities throughout the school year, including a field trip to the Louisville Zoo!
The three year old class is offered 2 days a week, Tuesday and Thursday for either full day (7:50AM-2:30PM) or half day (7:50AM-10:30AM).
The four year old class is offered 5 days a week for either full day (7:50AM-2:30PM) or half day (7:50AM-10:50AM).
