About Me
My father's career was in the USAF, so I attended school in many different states. From sixth grade to my graduation at Clarksville High School, I attended Clarksville Middle School and Clarksville High School. My Bachelor of Science in Education and a Masters of Science in Education along with a Middle School Endorsement in ELA was received from IUS. I am also a member of the IUS chapter of the National Writing Project Advance Institute.
Beginning in 1997, I was a substitute teacher at St. Anthony School. I became a full-time classroom teacher in the Fall of 2000, where I've been ever since teaching ELA and religion to the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
My husband, Bob, and I have been married for 35 years. We met at the Ponderosa Steakhouse where we both worked during high school. We were married by Fr. David Hutt here at St. Anthony of Padua Parish in 1984. My husband and his five brothers and sisters were SAS Bears in the 1970's, our three children were SAS Bears in the 2000's, and now the third generation, our grandson, is also a St. Anthony Bear.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family. We love to get together to eat (we love to eat!!), play board games and cards, and just visit. I also like to visit historical sites and museums. I am the person who reads every plaque. I also like to read. At any given time, there are at least four books ready for me to begin reading.
Educational Statement
My goals as a teacher are not only to teach the required academic curriculum, but to help all of my students become confident, self-motivated, self dependant individuals who are able to work well with others. I want each child to grow in Christian faith and develop Christian values. I'm a firm believer in cooperative and discovery learning to provide students the opportunity to work well together. I also believe that students deserve a wide variety of teaching strategies to reach the unique needs of individual students.
