About MeMy name is Stephanie LaMaster. I graduated from Providence High School and went on to study Biopsychology at Barnard College, Columbia University. I did transition to teaching after staying home with my kids for 12 years. I began working at St. Anthony in 2018, after teaching at Providence High School, Parkview Middle School, and Charlestown Middle School. I love finding deep, meaningful lesson plans for my students. I truly feels that teaching is my calling.
I have a wonderful husband of 20 years, Brian, and together we have 4 kids. In my spare time I enjoy baking, gardening, painting pottery, working out at the YMCA, and reading. When I was in grade school, I loved to write stories and poetry. I had a story published in a Young Author's book. Now, however, I just write lesson plans, but I still like to be creative with them! I became Catholic when I was a teenager at Providence High School. I became very involved in my faith, and got to lector at the Indianapolis Archdiocese Chrism Mass my senior year. I still lector at my home parish of St. John Paul II. I went to college in New York City, and it was an eye-opening experience for a girl from Lanesville, Indiana! I loved it, though!
Educational StatementI believe that our mission as Catholic school teachers is to love others like Jesus loved us. That influences how I teach, because I teach the whole person. I try to help students grow in their faith and walk with God, their relationships with others, their develpoment as an individual, and their academic abilities. I believe all students can learn. Most of the time the impediments to learning are emotional, so it's important to address them. Students who have disabilites that make it hard to learn need special attention, and I love seeing them succeed with that extra help. Lastly, as a math and science teacher, I try to make my classroom engaging, by using group activities and interactive work.
