About Me
I was born in Morelia Michoacan, Mexico. My family and I moved to Indiana when I was 12 years old. I attended Scribner Middle School and graduated from New Albany High School in 2004. I then graduated from IUS with a BA in Spanish. I have been teaching Spanish since 2012 and love it!
I have been teaching Spanish to our Pre-K to 8th grade classes since 2016. In addition to teaching them the language, I also enjoys teaching them about the culture. I like to incorporate fun projects into my classes like making pinatas and sugar skulls. In addition to teaching Spanish to our students, I am also our Spanish Ambassador for our Hispanic speaking families.
My husband, Carlos, and I have been married for 10 years. We have three girls- Hannah, Melanie and Sophia. We have a Pomeranian dog named Maximo. I have one brother, Jesus, and one sister, Ana Carolina. I also has 3 nieces and a nephew.
In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, baking, dancing, listening to music, watching crime tv shows, shopping, going to the beach, eating, and traveling. My favorite foods are tacos, enchiladas, steak, pizza, mangoes, and seafood. Some fun facts about me are that I can salsa dance, I don't like peanut butter, but likes peanuts, and I would like to visit all Latin American countries one day.
Educational Statement
My goal in the classroom is not only to introduce students to the Spanish language, but to the culture as well.
