On January 4, our students will have an asynchronous virtual learning day. Teachers will not have Google Meets on this day as they will be participating in Professional Development here at school. Teachers will send home any work necessary for this day or they will post on Google Classroom. Students will return to the building on Thursday, January 5. They should have all work completed when they return to school.
SAS families we need your help with the Raffle. We are looking for donations from local businesses. If you own a business or know someone that does, we would love a donation from that business. The donation can be gift cards or items from the business. A business can also be a corporate sponsor by donating money to the event. Please contact Mrs. Tucker if you know a business that may be willing to donate.

A huge shout out to Ally Huber for putting together our Secret Santa this year! We also can’t forget all of our parents that helped make the event a huge success. Everything ran very smoothly and was very well organized. The students were so excited to shop and had a wonderful time. What a great way to get in the Christmas Spirit. Thanks to everyone for your help and your support of this terrific event.
We want to welcome all visitors into our building, but we also want to ensure that safety is our number one priority. This is a reminder that all visitors must enter the front entrance of the building. This includes bringing in items for parties, paying bills, or dropping off something your kiddo forgot.
Wednesday, December 21 is a fun-filled day for our students. This is our last day before Christmas break. We will dismiss at 1:00 on this day and there is NO after school care. Please make plans to pick your child up by 1:00 on this day. It is very important that all children are picked up on this day as the staff will be having a gathering after school. Also, students may wear a Christmas/Festive shirt, ugly Christmas Sweater, or a red/green shirt with jeans or sweats. Classrooms will have an early brunch and will have their Christmas parties. We also hope to have a special visitor on this day!
It is hard to believe we are already planning our school calendar for the next school year. We know that many families must plan vacations in advance and need to know vacation dates as soon as possible. It is very important that vacations are planned during the breaks. STUDENTS SHOULD NOT MISS SCHOOL FOR VACATIONS! Click the title to see the dates.
As the weather turns colder please keep in mind that students will still go outside for recess. Make sure students are bundled up. We will go out as long as temperatures aren’t too frigid and it isn’t raining or snowing.
The second Sunday of Advent gives us the opportunity to prepare our hearts in faithful waiting, celebrate the birth of Jesus, and ready ourselves for his second coming. The tradition for the second Sunday of Advent includes lighting the second purple candle that is a symbol of faith. It's a beautiful chance to reflect on the ways prophecy has been fulfilled and to ponder what the future (promised to us through prophecies) will bring. “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.” This week, we pause to remember who God is and what He has done for us. When our lives are hurried, we only have the chance to focus on our to-do lists. Making space in our schedules for prayer and meditation helps us to better see God at work in our lives and in our world. As we prepare our hearts for the celebration of Jesus’ arrival as a gift to all humanity, let’s stir up in our hearts and homes a sense of anticipation. May God’s spirit transform the days leading up to Christmas into a time of holy anticipation; preparing our hearts, as we faithfully await the chance to celebrate the arrival of our king.
