Our Parent Group met on October 14. The minutes from the October meeting are attached. We had a wonderful meeting and discussed a lot of ideas, but it was a very small group. Please remember that all parents are welcome to attend our Parent Group meetings. This is an opportunity to share ideas about upcoming events and fundraising. St. Anthony’s is a family community and we must work together to make activities and events happen here at school. The faculty and staff cannot do it alone, we need your help. Please consider attending our next meeting on November 18 at 6:30 in the school cafeteria. Door prizes will be given. Congratulations to our Door Prize winners from the October Meeting. Jesi Lenfert won a $25 Amazon Gift Card and Jill Ellis won a $10 Amazon Gift Card.

WOW! The Book Fair was a huge success. Students had so much fun shopping. We sold over $3,700 and earned over $1,700 in Scholastic Dollars. The Scholastic Dollars will be used to purchase books for the library and the classrooms. Thanks to everyone for supporting the Book Fair and our school.
This Friday we will allow students to wear Halloween Costumes. It is important that the costume does not impede the learning process of the student or other students. Please follow costume guidelines: facial masks must be worn (NO costume mask), no face paint or hair coloring, be able to use the restroom on their own, no gore, violence, or weapons. Good rule of thumb, if you have to ask if the costume is appropriate, then pick a different costume. If a student prefers not to wear a costume, then they may wear a Halloween shirt or a black and/or orange shirt with jeans, sweats, or shorts.
Thank you to everyone who visited our Trunk or Treat this past weekend. Even with the rain, the event was a big success. I want to give a special shout out to Jennifer Vizhnay for putting this event together. Thank you to all those who hosted a trunk. Thanks to Mr. Dino for the delicious chili!
We will be having our Secret Santa Shop this year on Wednesday, December 1st. Students will be able to shop for Christmas gifts for the family at this time. We will be looking for volunteers to help with Secret Santa. If you would like to volunteer, please save the date and more information will be coming home soon.
Our 5th - 8th grade students will be performing Fractured Fairy Tales on November 5th and 6th at 7:00 pm in the school gym. Tickets for the play will be sold in advance and will be available at the door. An order form is included in the Bear Facts. Guests will be required to wear a mask and we will do our best to follow social distancing guidelines.
Students are getting ready for Red Ribbon Week® 2021 – this year’s theme is: Drug Free Looks Like Me. At school, students will engage in activities that promote a drug free and healthy lifestyle. DID YOU KNOW? Children of parents who talk to their teens regularly about drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those who don’t; yet, only a quarter of teens report having these conversations. Red Ribbon Week®, the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the nation, is your opportunity to get the ongoing conversation started. Please see the Red Ribbon Flyer to see how our SAS Bears will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week beginning on Monday, October 25th. If your child does not want to participate in the theme for the day, they will need to wear the school uniform.
Come visit our Trunk or Treat this Saturday at 6:30. This is a great opportunity for safe trick or treating. Mr. Dino will also be serving up his delicious chili. Thanks to all of our families who have volunteered to host a trunk or donate candy. Thanks also to Jennifer Vizhnay for spearheading this wonderful event.
Our Scholastic Book Fair will be held during the week of October 18. This event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school. After missing out on many beloved traditions, our Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students. Please see the attached letter and visit our Book Fair Homepage for more information. https://www.scholastic.com/bf/stanthonyschool16 Students will be able to purchase books during their library class or may purchase during parent teacher conferences. We will accept cash, credit, and check (payable to St. Anthony School). Families can also set up an eWallet for students.
Teachers and students are loving our new Friendzy Program. Last month, we focused on the idea of “We Need Each Other.” For the month of October, we will focus on the theme, “Love At All Times.”
