St. Anthony School’s Open House for prospective families is coming up! On Sunday, February 2nd, members of the School Commission and other volunteers will lead individual tours for students and their parents from 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM. Guests will meet teachers and staff, visit classrooms, learn about grade level curriculum, and receive admissions information, including details about tuition, SGO’s, and Indiana’s School Choice Scholarships. Help support SAS by passing along details about the Open House to friends, neighbors, and fellow parishioners with school-aged children. We are looking for volunteers who will help in the preparation for this event and also for people who want to help the day of Open House. If you would be interested in helping out, please email or call Stephany Tucker at s.tucker@stanthonyschool.us or 812-282-2144.

WOW! St. Anthony’s put on an amazing performance of Aladdin Jr. I would like to give a special shout out to Mrs. Doerr and Ms. Alberts and the many teachers, parents, and students who helped with this wonderful production. From the set design to the costumes to the musical talent the show was fantastic and we had a sell-out crowd on Saturday evening. We truly have amazing talent here at SAS. Thanks to the cast for all of your hard work. I heard so many wonderful reviews of the show. I would also like to thank Mrs. Jacque Singleton for her choreography; Mr. Tony Singleton for help with the lighting; the Reyes family for their help with the sound system, Mr. Bradley McKee for videotaping the show, Mr. Garry Nokes for taking pictures, Mr. Dino and his crew for the delicious dinner on Friday night, and Jeff Wagner our Assistant Director and Alex LaMaster Master of Ceremonies.

Each year, the Clark County Sherriff’s Department hosts a class for fifth graders in which they learn about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Captain Nick Mobley spent ten weeks with the students during which time the students learned about the harmful effects of illegal drugs, tobacco, and alcohol. They practiced using a decision-making model so they can be prepared to recognize the consequences of their decisions. Finally, they discussed bullying and cyber-bulling. The course ended with a D.A.R.E. graduation and reception at which time the winners of the essay contest were announced. The classroom essay winners were Azul Angeles and Sophie Singleton. Honorable mention essay winners were Lucia Bartley and Ashton McKee. Captain Mobley was joined by Corporal Scottie Maples and Captain Tim Franklin to honor all the St. Anthony D.A.R.E graduates. Congrats to all the essay winners and D.A.R.E. graduates!

Stewardship intention cards were mailed in October to all Parish Families. As you are aware, this is one of three stewardship requirements that must be completed each year to maintain your Scholarship and to be eligible next year your intention card must be returned. It is imperative that you return your Intention Cards as soon as possible. As we are heading into the new year it is also a good time to review your Mass attendance and Service hour status. If you have any questions where you currently stand you can email Jim Kenney and he will check our Parish records. His email is jimkenneyiii@gmail.com.

This month our trait is: Encouraging. Students are asked to be more aware of how they treat and speak to others. Try positive talk, like building others up instead of putting them down. Applaud all of your classmates, not just your friends. You never know how a simple word or act of kindness can completely change someone's day.
