Each year, the Clark County Sherriff’s Department hosts a class for fifth graders in which they learn about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Sergeant Joe Waters spent ten weeks with the students during which time the students learned about the harmful effects of illegal drugs, tobacco, and alcohol. They practiced using a decision model so they can be prepared to recognize the consequences of their decisions. Finally, they discussed bullying and cyber-bulling. The course ended in an essay contest. The classroom winners were Destiny Deaver, Henry Dixon, and Drew Kelly. The overall school winner was Drew Kelly. Congratulations to all the essay winners and D.A.R.E. graduates!
