Each year, the Clark County Sherriff’s Department hosts a class for fifth graders in which they learn about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Officer Joe Waters spent ten weeks with the students during which time the students learned about the harmful effects of illegal drugs, tobacco, and alcohol. They practiced using a decision model so they can be prepared to recognize the consequences of their decisions. Finally, they discussed bullying and cyber-bullying. The course ended in an essay contest. The classroom winners were Ben Kelly 5L, Mark Nokes 5H, Charlea Reinbold 5L, Macie Rhoten 5L, and Olivia Rundall 5H. The overall school winner was Olivia Rundall. Congratulations to all the essay winners and D.A.R.E. graduates!
